“Candice Lessoway (1960, Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada) is an artist who works mainly with acrylic paint and ink on canvas. By emphasising aesthetics, Lessoway invites the viewer into a world that articulates the stream of daily events in music and urban life. Moments are depicted that only exist to punctuate the human drama in order to clarify our existence and to find poetic meaning in everyday life.
In a search for new methods to ‘read the city’, she focuses on the idea of ‘public space’ and more specifically on spaces where anyone can do anything at any given moment: the non-private space, the non-privately owned space.
Her works are often about contact with architecture, basic living elements, and music. Energy (heat, light, water), space and landscape are examined in less obvious ways and sometimes developed in absurd ways. Candice Lessoway currently lives and works in the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia.”
Personal Bio
I believe true art is to love people and love what you do... but of course that doesn’t always pay the bills. But creating something is good for your soul whether it’s cooking pasta, planting a garden...or painting. My children, both true artists in their own right, have been my biggest inspiration to keep growing, keep learning, and in turn, my greatest wish, most humbly, is that I have been some inspiration to them as well.
Many thanks to everyone who has supported me through the trials and tribulations of getting my website in place, taking pictures for me, buying my art, getting measurements, buying my art, offering me wall space, buying my art, giving me advice and criticism, and propping up my sagging artistic insecurities (whether they wanted to or not)....you know who
you are and I love you for it!!
And to my wonderful large and diverse family who surrounded me with love, music and laughter...xoxo
